The Hoxton Hotel

While there was a certain functional honesty to the 1960’s Threshold And Union House, the Hoxton Hotel has now replaced it in double-quick time, after some initial overlooking and light issues with the neighbours in Pennard Road.  The ‘Ready to Rock’ cinema look echoes the former cinemas next door (now Dorsett and last year’s Award winner, the Palladium), not to mention the theatre, now O2 Empire, that completes ‘The Lawn‘

1 Wood Crescent W12

This is a new office block alongside the former TV centre in Wood Crescent, offering contemporary office space targeting BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating with solar power and grey water recycling. On one side, the curve follows the curve of the TV Centre.

London Mindsports Centre

The former Salvation Army building in Dalling Road has been refurbished, and is under new ownership.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council for not living up to it’s ‘greenest borough’ mantra and ‘doing things with and not to residents’ manifesto, by:

a) Consenting demolition of Ada Lewis House by Southern Housing Group, against sustained local opposition. Ada Lewis is a substantial building appropriate to the townscape, housing key workers, and eminently capable of being repurposed.

b) Not considering embodied carbon, despite its own declaration of a ‘climate emergency’.

c) Permitting the destruction of mature trees around the building, in an area notably short of green space and tree cover.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council for imposing  so-called ‘Clean Air Neighbourhoods’ with insufficient research, initially as the ‘TCPR’ in South Fulham, creating additional pollution on main roads, and resulting in business closures; then proposing the same for the Brackenbury and other areas of Hammersmith, as shown on the map below
